This is my biggest watercolor ever! It's about 1 foot by 2 feet. I'm pretty proud of this one. About 16 hours of work on the painting, and a couple extra on digital touch-ups The theme in this painting is "Endlessness" or Infinity. This is shown in the different styles of art I tried to pay tribute to (Gothic and Renaissance mostly) and the characters. The extra character is an illustration of the artist, who do the impossible (wings) and live forever (statue) through their work. Plixe, symbol of childhood, is sitting on the throne made by mankind (civilization), she is holding a scepter (science) and flowers (nature). She is wearing her old yellow dress but it's clean, she is also cloaked in the universe and the sun: all of which she is meant to inherit. Liment is averting his eyes from the scene while Arth is completely turned around. They are both holding Plixe's sleeves, holding her back. Dan....coughhasabscough...uhm idk tired think later haha
You have achieved a colorful look without going overboard. The colors look harmonous probably because they change so gradually, except for the red dress on the right, which can be thought as a point of interest. And it's ok as long as you keep the number of focal points small. However in this piece there are too many of them, and they are not well positioned, and it makes the picture messy.
An easy rule of thumb for placing your points of interests is to use rule of thirds. I've written a tutorial on the subject: [link] .
Keeping detail near the edges easily leads the viewer out of the picture. This happens especially at the lower right corner on this piece. Also, viewer usually follows the gaze of the characters, and here the character on the left leads it again out of the picture. Flipping it would lead it into the picture instead.
Even though I like the colors, I would still desaturate parts of this picture. That way you could spice up the areas you want with intense color. When everything is saturated none of the areas look bright, but if it is surrounded by desaturated colors it starts glowing.
Very colourful . And I lovvveeeee the colour combination . But then , I think you should add on some outline because in my opinion it's kind of *cough*messy*cough* . I don't really know how to draw and I'm kind of shocked that you used 16 hours to do this . You should be proud . I know that not everybody have the patience . HONESTLY . Oh , and one more thing .... The *cough*nipples*cough* are too close together , they should be more far apart IMO .
As for the colours ~ I told you that I loooovvvveeeee the colour combination (U R A GENIUS) and I'm still reeling from the fact that you used traditional media for this . IT LOOKS SO DIGITAL . I forgotten to tell you , this is written from a POV of a fourteen-year-old . So don't get so worked up by it. :3
This looks so cool, so much happening in one picture. I love the wings on that guy. I just adore the way you make everything look so colorful and detailed.
